







Commercial Truck Operator Training
This is a 32 Quarter Credit (320 Clock Hour) industry
specific program developed in cooperation with local
private contractors to assist in meeting the need for entry-
level commercial truck/vehicle operators. Graduates of
this program are eligible for a certificate and placement
assistance with a local distributor/transporter. Students
must complete a supervised externship developed in
cooperation with trucking companies. Competencies are
developed through a program emphasizing hands-on experience, work simulations, as
well as class lecture/discussions.
Learning Objectives and Outcome Measures
1001. Students will demonstrate a working knowledge of the following safety standards
for a Commercial Truck:

15 Clock Hours
1002. Students will reveal an understanding of the following general equipment operation
concepts:

1003. Students will exhibit the following operating competencies for the equipment:

1004. Students will indicate an understanding of the following components of the State's
CDL code:

1005. Students will display the following job readiness skills:

Work Projects: Achievement Level 80%
10 Clock Hours
1006. Externship with trucking company will include supervision of a portion of the 1,000
safe driving miles in addition to the training hours. Students must have acquired an
appropriate CDL. 160+ Clock Hours
Graduation Performance Requirements
Technical Competency:
1. Minimum combined average score (70%) on the mid-term & final exam.
2. Minimum score of 70% on each field operation test.
3. Achievement of 1,000 safe driving miles-city, expressway & 2 lane.
Career Readiness:
1. Demonstrated positive attitude in mock interviews, role plays & simulations.
